In the Land of Invented Languages

Once upon a time, I picked up Harry Harrison's Stainless Steel Rat novels, wherein the characters spoke in Esperanto. From that moment on, I was hooked by these invented languages. I looked for the Esperanto books in the local library. When the Klingon dictionary was introduced, friends and I attempted to utilize it in our conversations. So of course, when I read about this book, I ran out and bought a copy.

The results are educational and interesting. Languages I've visited and those I did not know existed are covered. For anyone who loves languages and especially anyone who wants to learn how they are created, this is an excellent book.

I may never learn LogLan or be fluent in Esperanto, but as long as those who toil in obscurity to create "better" ways to communicate, I will have an avenue for my imagination.
