Angels of Vengeance

It's funny that the publisher went with this cover, because that is a scene from the last book and none of this story takes place in New York. Sure there is some expository flashback to those events, but it is safe to say that this cover is only being used to sell the book.
The story on the other hand is just as engaging as ever. Our lead characters have pared down to Caitlin - superspy, Julianne - retired thief, and Sophia - refugee. These ladies have been done wrong by various supporting characters, notably a terrorist, businessman, and mad general. Now they are all on the hunt to right the wrongs done to them and their family and friends.
Birmingham gets the story and the action just right. Sure he telegraphs some plot points, but no one is perfect. And he ties this series up nicely. Sure there are hints for a future series, but I like the fact that his novels are interlinked, but relatively self-contained. And I like that they have a finite story. I love Taylor Anderson's Destroyermen books, but he is going into the seventh book and no horizon in sight. Who knows when it will end. Birmo ends his stories in just the right amount of pages. I can't wait for his next story set.
