No One Will Hear You
Nothing like a Max Allan Collins novel to make you drop everything. My local book store for some reason did not stock this, but that's okay because the library came to the rescue. I was number one in the queue and the minute it was ready I picked it up. All other reading was pushed to the side until I could finish this. There are very few authors who rank this high in my preferences. (Carrie Vaughn, Harlan Coben, and the Wild Cards team are the usual exceptions.)This novel continues the story started in YOU CAN'T STOP ME. Retired police officer turned TV star, JC Harrow and his crime fighting team continue to find and stop criminals for their reality TV show. However many are tired of the celebrity, including JC, and are ready to go back to their lives. The only thing in their way are a pair of serial killers, who both want to be the next big event on the show.
I could go on, but to say much more would be to give away the plot. Like all MAC novels, this is tightly written and speedy reading. He and his writing partner, Matthew Clemens, have a simple style that is not at all easy to accomplish. However, I was able to see two of the three major plot twists coming from their introduction. This did not take away from the enjoyment, but it did make me interested to see how much I got right.
This is going to be a busy summer for a MAC reader because he has a few more books coming out, but I can easily put aside things for him.
