Distant Thunders

I don't know if I was expecting more books in the Destroyermen series by Taylor Anderson, but a small part of me wanted to revisit his world. I hope he (and his publisher) revisit the biannual (or triannual) schedule that was used with the previous three books.

DISTANT THUNDERS picks up soon after the end of MAELSTROM. The Grik are still out there following their defeat, but they appear to be evolving in their strategies. A new enemy/ally (dare I say frenemy?) is introduced as well. Princess Rebecca's fellow countrymen have arrived to rescue her, but are their intentions pure in regards to the Grand Alliance of Lemurians and Americans? The intrigues are mostly among the humans and this has more of the feel of a set-up novel. It puts the pieces into play, but will not resolve much at the end. But that is okay with a series, especially when they get published as rapidly as Anderson's do. There are not the year-long waits of most series (or the even longer gaps for other books) to draw the reader away to other titles. These are fun reading and I will continue to seek out further editions.
