Scarecrow Returns

Yep. Scarecrow is back. This is Matt Reilly's first full Scarecrow novel since 2003. Back then our hero was hunted by bounty hunters hired by a rogue element determined to push the world back into the stone age. Of course Scarecrow won, but he lost his fiance, Fox, and most of his sanity. By the end, the reader wasn't certain if this was the end of Scarecrow.

But he is back. He is still hunted, this time by the French for destroying their aircraft carrier in the previous book. As a result, he is in the Arctic to keep him out of their hands. Scarecrow is also still haunted by the lives of those he lost. But as a wily French assassin, Renard, hunts him, Scarecrow and his team must stop "The Army of Thieves" from destroying most of the northern hemisphere.

We loyal Reilly readers know Scarecrow will succeed where all others have failed; we know he will use his trusty maghook to save his life from a fall; and we know all the relevant plot details will be laid out and carefully assembled by the author.

Of course a total suspension of disbelief is necessary to read this book, but if the reader can do so, it will be a fun ride.

No surprises here, but the fun is seeing how the hero will save himself from the burning car that just drove over the cliff.
